On December 26, 2019, Xi’an Jiaotong University and China-Africa Institute signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing andco-built the "Centre for African Studies" in iHarbor of Xi’an Jiaotong University. The two sideswillconduct in-depth cooperation on scientific research, academic exchanges, personnel training, resource platform creation, and other fields related to Africa. The Joint Institute serves the overall strategy and needsof Shaanxi Province, focusing on research of specificcountries and regions,Africanpolicy and public opinion towards China, and China-Africa relations，to provide think-tank support for Shaanxi Provincial Government and enterprises.

Research teams include the China-Africa Institute, the Institute of West-Asian and African Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the interdisciplinary research team of XJTU. Team members have rich experience and achievements in many research fields on China-Africa relations, public opinion, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and economic and trade cooperation.
