Before packing your swimwear and sunscreen and leaving to Bali, there’s couple of things to remember to do first. Make sure you remember to check these things before take-off so you have less things to worry about when you finally arrive to the beautiful island of Bali.
Visa and passport
The baseline is that you need a visa to visit Indonesia. The visa must be applied and admitted before your arrival from the Indonesian Embassy. It is also possible to receive visas from certain airports, such as Jakarta or Denpasar (Bali) and harbors after your arrival (this kind of visa is called Visa-on-arrival and it’s only being admitted for max 30 days). Although these Visa-on-arrival visas are not formally meant for studying, they can be extended for another 30 days during your stay in Indonesia.
The type of visa you need when you come to study to Indonesia is called Social Visit Visa. The Embassy of Indonesia admits those one entry (single entry) visas which entitle you to the 60-day stay in Indonesia. All you need to remember is to extend your visa during your stay. Visa can be extended by one month at a time and costs around 40 Euros per one extend monthly.
For students from Finland, read more information about how to ably visa and find visa applications from the website of Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (http://www.indonesian-embassy.fi/in/). For students from other countries, you can find visa forms and more info from your country’s own Indonesian Embassy.
Another important thing to remember before entering Indonesia, is to make sure that your passport is valid for another six months upon entry into Bali, otherwise the only thing you’ll be seeing on your holiday is Balis International Airport and the next plane out.
Needed inoculations
Before you live, it’s good to make sure you’re having all necessary inoculations for your trip. The usually recommended inoculations are primary vaccinations like MMR and diphtheria-tetanus but also Asia Hepatitis A and B vaccines. Other vaccines are optional, so it depends on what country you are visiting and where you’re planning to travel there what other vaccines you’ll be needing. All vaccination plans are always unique, so don’t hesitate to ask for example your own doctor about the necessary vaccinations and other health issues puzzling your mind.
